RAM I need more, a lot of you techy guys out their will think I’m mad only having 512MB of RAM well I don’t blame you for thinking I’m mad I would love to have more I have some RAM on my desk right now but my motherboard uses Dual Memory meaning you have to have at least 2 of the same sizes e.g. 256mb + 256mb or 512mb + 512mb if you have something like I’ve got on my desk 256mb + 512mb it will not work.

Some of you might be thinking what a pain but in all fairness I would never buy a motherboard that doesn’t have dual memory, dual memory allows you to spread the load around allowing to use it faster for example rather than having a 512mb you could have 2 x 256mb allowing you to get much better speed of accessing the RAM this can go the same for using RAID on your hard drives like with dual memory I would never go without RAID basicly RAID allows you to connect up 2 hdd’s but windows or what ever OS you use sees it as one and splits your data across the two hard drives so your hard drive runs at 7200rpm normally now times that by two and you will find yourself quite happy.

It can be a large inconvenience though as you find yourself buying 2 of the same things just to have a good computer.

Now as you might no using windows its easy to get around things using programs already made by them so today we shall explore drive restriction, do you ever get the message “You do not have permission to access this drive” well this is for you.

Now their can be many ways to get around this for starters using a third party application like FireFox Portable just type in C:\ in the address bar.
Or if you want to make yourself look better you can use CMD now if you open up CMD and type in subst /? This will give you more help on what subst exactly does, well it allows you to create a virtual drive taking the restrictions off.

So just type in subst Z: C:\ this will make a virtual drive called Z which will have C drives files in it.

Darksat sent me a link the other day linking to “key Port” and it looks amazing at the moment I take it that the product is in the graphics stage but they do have a a form where you can sign up to news etc on their website.

The Key port will hold up to 6 keys in their current design, it also have thumb sliders allowing you to put your chosen key out using your thumb it really does look like a brilliant idea keeping your keys in one of these if you compare it to a key chain you will notice that it looks so much better!

My opinion on this is by looking at it I can imagine it being a bit chunky but then again having the keys on a chain would be even bigger, so it could be handy if you own 6 keys that are chunky then buy a key port, or just get some smaller keys, another thing that worries me is the cost on their blog you will read that it can cost $50 + which for a key holder seems a bit hight.

But it really does look amazing I can’t wait to purchase one, what you think of the idea?

Well this week if you visit my site daily you would of noticed all the blog designs I’ve come up with and I’m having loads of fun and I doubt I’m going to stop at this rate.

Why am I doing this though it’s a simple answer really trying to learn some more, its amazing what you can do if you set your mind to it now my current theme I think has been a massive improvement considering all the themes I’ve been through.

My secret is start from the base build a very basic theme no color no pictures nothing, and work you’re way up from that, draw it on paper what you want then get ready to rumble in the Photoshop ring.

Now if you’re like me you love to experiment with Photoshop, now I’ve done posters to website designing and one of my favorite is web designing, its not just seeing it in Photoshop its so much more first you have to plan it out either on paper or just a quick sketch in Photoshop then its making each individual part header, sidebar and footer.

Then you need to decide what’s best for the client for an example I’m going to use my personal site Typer Tappers now one of my designs uses a lot of transparency and what’s the best format to use for that PNG, but the biggest problem here is Internet Explorer 6 now I know for a fact it doesn’t support transparency which is a major bummer because its one of my favorite formats but I thought I should make it then check it out in IE.
So I did that and it doesn’t look that bad and considering the IE users don’t stay on my site very long I think I’m in the clear.
You also need to consider the fact that version 6 is outdated we now have version 7 of internet explorer which supports transparency in PNG files.

Now I wouldn’t normally do this for a client but as this is my website and it doesn’t look half bad I shall wave it this once.

But the format isn’t the best part if you look at WordPress’ website you will notice it says “code is poetry” it really is one of the most fun parts of designing is tweaking the coding to get it working on cross browsers, this can take a long time in some cases but it is a brilliant hobby to have and well worth my time.

Hi this is my 100th post, finally I’ve been waiting for this moment I have written 100 articles and they have slowly been getting better and better.
So today I shall dedicate my post to Aspire Crystals, now what is Aspire Crystals?
It is a website selling you guessed it Crystals, now if you’re one who doesn’t believe in the healing powers of crystals then maybe you should take some time out to do some research in the field.

I’m a big fan of using internet proxy’s I use them for pretty much all my internet surfing my favorite one was hidemyass.com which has suddenly become very slow, which seems to be a big problem with proxy’s now everyone is realizing why we should be using them.
There are much easier ways of using proxy’s like using Tor, Privoxy or some other programs but you don’t really have much choice over the speed its running at so this is the main reason why I use internet proxy’s as I can just go to proxy.org and select which one I would like to use or even better open up the proxy.org widget in Opera, if you’re really paranoid you can chain all the internet proxy together as well (not sure if they would like that) but its another way to stay safe on the internet.

Now I have my own personal proxy for my use only and was thinking of making a public one, but after using my proxy for a while I couldn’t help but notice the bandwidth it uses which is just scary if I would run it on my own server I would use Squid but I’m not going to.
So does anyone use or own any proxy’s and what’s your opinion on them?

Let me guess you think I’m lieing, no I’m not darksat reminded me of a website the other day which will help you keep your gadgets safe thanks to the internet.

The internet it’s a amazing thing don’t you think, well the internet contains IP addresses and these give away your location which can be very precise so whats this got to do with my MP3 player well in fact it has a lot if you’re planning on using something called “gadgettheft”.
Thanks to gadget theft it installs a script onto you’re portable console or music player so that when someone “installs the drivers” their information is sent to you from their ISP to their computer name, so you want your Ipod back give the information to the police and they will go to the ISP and get their address and ta-da you could have a chance of getting your MP3 player back.

I imagine this only works with XP I didn’t have enough time to explore it but the way it works I can see that it can be as long as the people stealing it know something about computers then you could get it back but I personally think you shouldn’t need to pay for this service, I find it a little silly you have to pay for something like this I would of thought it would be free but oh well it’s a years subscription which isn’t a bad price.

I needed to knuckle down and start making a good design for my blog as all of my other sites are up to standards, but I’ve never found it so challenging to design a website!

Blogs I’m slowly getting better at, I think the hardest part I find about designing was getting to grips with building the actual theme in different pages as I’m used to building websites without themes.

So this was one of my hardest websites to design for I’ve even built a theme on CubeCart which you would think should be much harder but that was easy, and I’ve never had so many problems with internet explorer I really try to avoid using IE hacks to make my sites look correct but it seems I shall have to do this if I don’t get it fixed fully.

Would be so much easier if everyone follows W3C Microsoft don’t make the rules, so why cant they follow them?
That’s another subject for another day.

So what’s everyone think I’m not that sure I keep tweaking parts of the site so please send me some comments .

Well my attention has been drawn to social engineering, and to be really honest its amazing, I’m currently reading “The Art Of Deception – Kevin D. Mitnick” and it shows you many of examples how social engineering is used and its really shocking that it really is that easy you have to be fast on your feet though keep the chatter going if your calling someone down the phone, but it really is quite scary how far social engineering can get you if you want some information, the book has brilliant stories in it check it out.

Social engineering well you must of heard of conning people will its basically that just incase you’re interested, now if you run some kind of company you need to realize the dangers of people, now let me guess you have firewalls anti-virus’ installed the lot, WHO CARES, yeah your protected from attacks from the internet, but what if someone asks you for your password?
“Hello this is ********”
“Oh hi can I have your password”
“NO!”
This isn’t what I mean not exactly that easy the social engineer will make up a load of crap about why they need someone’s password and you might even believe them.
Can you stop this?
Sure its called a company policy you tell people not to give out any information without you (the owner of the company) having agreed
So as long as you’ve read up on Social Engineering then you’re prepared for the worst.
