New My Chemical Romance Album (The Black Parade)

Sunday, November 12th, 2006

blackparadecover.jpgWell i wasn’t too sure about getting this album, but thought i should have a go at listening to their album wasn’t expecting it to be very good at all.

1st impressions are everything, and The End impressed me a lot, only thing i didn’t like is when they shout their chorus with the drums banging like mad but not bad once you get past them parts.

And you know what i got though the whole album with ease i loved the album I’ve had it on repeat for days now its so good!

If you don’t have the album already go and buy it, its brilliant. I am now going to go and buy their other albums!

Stop Preaching Firefox.

Sunday, November 12th, 2006

You know what I’m fed up with people preaching Firefox especially newbie’s they don’t have a clue why they use it, it’s just the fact they found something different from Internet Explorer.opera125x125a.jpg

It’s been proven its not secure its got holes in it, yeah its more secure than Internet Explorer but it still has its flaws, but I’m beginning to feel sorry for Opera they have one hell of a good browser their, its not open source or anything like that but who really cares its compatible with mobile phones, Windows, Mac and Linux just like Morzilla Firefox but its just not advertised all around the world.

I did do a review on the browsers (my first article), it was really good testing out Opera much better browser than Firefox for newbie’s so I think we all need to start preaching Opera.

Who’s with me, if you have a website put some links to Operas website and download it and give it a trial run, hopefully you will like it and stick with it!

Getting Visitors to Your Website.

Saturday, November 11th, 2006

This isn’t as hard as it actually sounds especially if your dedicated to running a website, so with my website (typertappers.com) what I’ve been doing is submitting my URL to many web directories and places like Digg.com which when Googlebot find a link on their site your page rank goes up, allowing you to get more visitors from Google. There is millions of webmasters out their trying to understand fully how Google works which is pretty much impossible they are very secretive about their algorithm, so it takes a lot of trials and errors.

So the best way’s to get a higher pr is to make a sitemap (http://www.google.com/webmasters) upload it to Google.

Submit yourself to high ranking Web Directories (http://www.strongestlinks.com/directories.php).

If you’re a member of and forums put your URL in your signatures, or commenting on Blogs remember to put your URL in.

But the most important things are content lots and lots of Good content and regularly updated!

AJAX Brilliant Idea, Changing The Web Before Our Very Own Eyes.

Saturday, November 11th, 2006

I don’t know if you’ve noticed but AJAX has taken the web by storm Google, Msn and Yahoo are all using it and its brilliant.

I don’t know if many of you out there are web developers etc, but AJAX sends and receives information between browser’s and website servers, AJAX comes from JavaScript which is like AJAX but it does not send and receive information.

So lets think about a “shoutbox” normally you wouldn’t use JavaScript because its pointless you don’t need it but put in a little bit of AJAX scripting you have a “live” ShoutBox no need to refresh because AJAX will grab the information and show it on your screen!

I can see this becoming the way forward for Website Development, JavaScript will slowly get pushed out of the way and we will have practically applications online for example Google Doc’s etc.

Freezing Your Hard Drive.

Wednesday, November 8th, 2006

Well I came across a couple of posts about freezing your hard drive to revive it.

So this is basically what I understand, you have a broken hard drive which wont boot anything.

So you stick it in the freezer for about a day (24 hours) and this should allow your hard drive to to contract.

After you’ve frozen it for about a day you take it out leave it to dry out for a couple of hours, be careful when plugging it in as you have condensation which could make it blow up in your face (which you don’t want), so this will allow your hard drive components to expand again which should fix your hard drive.

I would love to hear your comments on this post if you have anything to add or any experiences with doing this, please tell me in the comment section.

Wireless LAN (WLAN)

Tuesday, November 7th, 2006

Now everyone thinks their fine with completely secure but the horrible fact is your not.

I know a couple of people using WLAN that think their fine with it a couple of programs to secure it and a WEP encryption, I couldn’t help but laugh.

You can stop your newbie neighbours from stealing your wireless with a WEP encryption or something like that but your not stopping the full time hackers from stealing your bank details, so never do any important work using a wireless connection because the harsh truth is you will be hacked at some point, have a computer ready that is connected directly to the internet, for things to do with important things, but even then your not secure but its your safest bet.

Save Your Work From a Knackered Machine.

Tuesday, November 7th, 2006

Well recently I’ve had a couple of people complaining about their pc because windows or something has come up with a error and can’t get access to it.

And most of these times you will find that they will format the hard drive, without burning a CD of all their stuff, which really ticks me off because that means I have to help them getting everything back on their computer.

The answer is backups you can setup a simple backup machine on your LAN easily using things like FreeNAS allowing you to send your files to that machine from another on your LAN.

Or the simple idea is use Linux Live to get your files back, a simple disk like Knoppix or Damn Small Linux will allow you to get access to your partitions allowing you to recover your files without logging onto windows.

A Messy Blog is an Unpopular Blog.

Monday, November 6th, 2006

Okay let’s face facts you search through the web say you come to a website with ads all over the place you think nah and don’t bother reading it so just click off the page.

So thinking about that you won’t get any one clicking on your adverts because no one cares about your content because it looks awful, so why not spend a little pay a professional to design your website, try and get as much information out of them as possible about designing your website and how to market it.

You can get a professional to design a layout for around $50-$100 so what’s the harm in spending a little to make a little, think from a customers point of view.

Starting Your own Weblog

Monday, November 6th, 2006

As you can see weblogs or blogs have become vastly popular over the past year, so I’m going to talk to you on how to setup your own blog.

So first we need to think of a name that we are going to call out blog so for a example we are going to use ‘Typer Tappers’

Next we need to buy a domain which can also come with a hosting plan here is a link to a list of web host’s http://wordpress.org/hosting/ if your in the UK I would recommend http://4uhosting.co.uk now I will be using 4uhosting.co.uk as my example as it supports ‘CPanel’ this allows you to install word press automatically taking all the hard work out of it.

So when you’re on CPanel you cant to click “Fantastico” this is the program that will install the script for you so in that look for word press and follow the instructions.

Now you’re all setup and ready to go, so get writing your first article!

Ubuntu (Linux)

Monday, November 6th, 2006

Well I’ve been trying out Ubuntu for the past couple of days because I’m looking for a good OS to swap with Windows as I’m beginning to get bored of it, so I ordered a couple of Ubuntu live CD’s which was also a installation CD which I was very chuffed about so I could surf the net while I was installing Ubuntu which I loved.

Connecting to the internet: This was so easy it auto detected my hardware when I put the CD in it didn’t tell me or anything and I was instantly connected to the internet. So I started the installation while I was talking to a couple of my friends using ‘Gaim’ so I thought this is brilliant Microsoft should do something like this!

Configuring you’re settings: this was a really annoying part for me, I was stuck with the default setting I couldn’t go any higher I asked on Ubuntu Forum’s and it wouldn’t work, I tried it several times and I ended up with a blank screen on boot.

Overall it is perfect for newbie’s to Linux auto detection of hardware brilliant, configuring it was hard but then again I don’t really expect people to mess about with them.
